LASIK eye surgery is the most famous laser refractive surgery performed to correct vision problems. Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis can be an alternative to glasses or contact lenses.
During LASIK surgery, a special type of cutting laser is used to precisely reshape the clear, curved tissue at the front of the eye to improve vision. In eyes with normal vision, the cornea directs light precisely to the retina at the back of the eye. But with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, the light bends incorrectly, resulting in blurred vision.
